Maybe you have a lamp in a color you’d rather move on from? Painting is a great to change it up. When painting ceramics sanding is a crucial step to remove the top layer of glossy glaze. Next clean the piece with TSP substitute and thoroughly remove all residue. Let the piece dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Be sure to cover all cords, knobs, and sockets with paper and tape to protect them for the priming and painting process.

Use a primer specially formulated for ceramics. For the most convincing high-gloss glaze finish be sure to sand down any gritty or bumpy spots in the primer. If using a brush then use a glossy latex paint. Or you can use a spray paint made for ceramics instead.
