9. Fake Greenery

I’m not one to judge, as I’ve killed my fair share of plants, even a cactus or two (did you know you can overwater? Me neither). But, those fake flowers aren’t fooling anyone. You can try some easy care plants like succulents – just don’t overwater. Or, if you want to go the “no care” route, try some natural elements like branches in a vase or preserved greenery like moss or boxwood. You can always get a bouquet of lovely flowers and dry them for a vintage look that requires no care!

10. Lack of personality

The most important rule is that YOU love your space. If you’re breaking some of these rules but you really really love your living room full of nicknacks and fake vines – then hey, go for it. Sometimes I scroll through Pinterest or Instagram and see photos of the minimalist black and white living rooms and bedrooms and I think maybe I should try it out, but the thing they lack is any personal meaning! So don’t forget to have fun and add your own spin on these rules. It is your space, after all.
