This Pit bull was found on a sidewalk in Los Angeles at the end of last summer. She weighed just 26 pounds and was infested with ticks and maggots. She was in horrible condition and on the brink of death. She was taken in by Ghetto Rescue FFoundation (GRFF), a rescue group run by LA police officers, and they didn’t think she would even survive for 24 hours.
They decided to name her Spirit Golden Heart, after the heart-shaped marking on her coat, and also because of her strong will to live. Despite her poor state, she was a very sweet dog. They kept her in the hospital for weeks, and she grew stronger every day, defying all the odds.
Spirit is a living miracle. She is now doing great and is living with a foster. She has spent so much of her life on the streets, starving and unloved, but now she has turned into a “chubby couch potato,” her foster mom says. She loves children and is a great companion.
Now that she has been given a clean bill of health, Spirit is looking for her furever home! If you’re interested in adopting this sweet girl, click on her adoption listing here for more info! You can watch her story in the video below:
