Is there a more iconic actress of the 50s & 60s than Marilyn Monroe? She was the quintessential blonde bombshell with curves and makeup to match. Let’s take a look at a few of her favorite beauty products, many of which are still available today!

Chanel No. 5

This 1927 edition of the famous Chanel No. 5 is still available for purchase. The famous perfume was invented by none other that Coco Chanel. By the 1920s, this was the most popular perfume in the country, and remains a favorite scent a century later. Of course, this famous perfume comes at a price – typically aroun $100 for a 3.5 oz bottle!

Max Factor Beauty Products

Perhaps the most recognizable feature of Marilyn Monroe’s makeup was her ruby red lipstick. The brand, Max Factor, even made her the face of their lipstick line in 2015, more than 50 years after her death. The lipstick wasn’t the only Max Factor beauty product she used, however. Marilyn also used their creamy foundation for full coverage.

Vaseline

Marilyn Monroe’s makeup artist on set liked to use Vaseline to highlight her cheekbones and other features. Marilyn liked to use the product herself because it is very moisturizing. Vaseline itself has been around since the 1800s. Check out this article on how Vaseline got its start, as well as other everyday products that were initially used for different purposes. As you probably know, you can still purchase Vaseline today.

Nivea Moisturizing Creme

Apparently Marilyn Monroe had very dry skin, as a lot of these products are ultra moisturizing! Nivea is a German-based company that has been around since 1882. This particular product was introduced in 1911. People still swear by it today as a great everyday moisturizer for hands, elbows, feet, and any other problem areas you have. If it’s been around for over 100 years and people are still using it, this creme must be good!

Erno Laszlo Creme

You can still buy this product today, though it’s a bit pricey, coming in at around $275. This particular creme is Phormula 3-9, but Marilyn used Phormula 3-8, which has since been discontinued. It was made specifically for Marilyn to cover up a scar on her chin.
