I can’t believe I haven’t seen this before, it’s such a simple idea that adds a special pop of color to any room.

Finding the perfect rug is next to impossible; the colors are never quite right, the pattern is too busy, or too plain, the texture is all wrong, the list goes on and on. And when I do finally find the perfect rug, it’s way out of my price range! With this easy to follow tutorial, find out how to make your own rug, using whatever colors and textures you want! I can’t believe I haven’t seen this before, it’s such a simple idea that adds a special pop of color to any room. How fun would it be to crochet or knit a matching blanket to throw over the couch? The possibilities are endless!

Supplies:

– Yarn (various sizes & textures)

– Scissors

– Non-stick rug mat (cut to preferable size)

– Small crochet hook

Directions:

Place strand of yarn between middle finger and ring finger, leaving at least a 2 inch tail.

Wrap around fingers 20-30 times, depending on how big you want the pom pom.

Cut yarn.

Wrap ends around center of yarn ball, tying off in a tight knot.

Cut folded ends to make pom pom.

** Keep the ends you tied around the center long, we’ll use those to tie onto mat**

Insert crochet hook, grabbing long end of pom pom, pull through. Do the same for the other end.

Tie onto mat, trim ends.

Repeat until you have enough pom poms to fill the mat! A mini rug (like the ones we made) uses between 40-50 pom poms.
