Have You Heard of Big Stitch Quilting? It’s Time to Learn!

If you’ve been playing around with hand quilting, then you know just how fun it can be! In today’s tutorial, we’re excited to show you another way to hand quilt; this technique is called ‘big stitch quilting.’

Generally, when hand quilting, we choose a thread that matches the background fabric and use smaller stitches, but when it comes to big stitch quilting, we’re creating a much more dramatic look with thicker thread and a 1/4-3/8 inch stitch. This technique adds a beautiful and fun dimension and texture to your quilt.
