5 Little Known Skin Cancer Signs You Should Never Ignore

I had no idea I should be checking these things regularly!

Vision Problems

Melanoma of the eye is the second most common type of melanoma. Instead of a mole on your skin, this melanoma can appear as a spot in the back of your eye. It is only visible to a doctor when your pupils are dilated during an eye exam. Less than half of people who have melanoma of the eye actually show symptoms. Some symptoms you might experience with this type of cancer are blurry vision, floaters in the eye, or a growing dark spot on the iris.

A Pimple That Won’t Go Away

Basal or squamous cell skin cancer often presents itself as a zit that won’t clear up, even after a few weeks. It can also look like a sore that won’t heal or a scab that keeps reappearing. Sometimes the cancerous “pimple” might go away, but it comes back in the same spot and doesn’t have any pus when you squeeze it.

Black Spot On Your Cheek

A lesser-known area for melanoma is in the mucous membranes – inside your cheek, nasal cavity, anal region, and the vagina. Many people don’t think to get these areas checked out since they are not normally exposed to the sun, and most people associate skin cancer with sun exposure. Nevertheless, it’s important to ask your doctor if you have any concerns.
