14) Use Ice to Make Yourself More Comfortable

Put an ice cube try inside the forced-air vents in your floor to make the air less dry. The heat will slowly vaporize the water in the tray. Check daily to make sure the water level is good and that it hasn’t spilled.

13) Homemade Warmer

Make a simple fabric square or rectangle, fill with dry rice, and sew closed remaining edge. To warm the bed or cold feet or soothe aching msucles simply place the rice bag in the microwave for 2-4 minutes for a toasty and cheap reusable custom warmer. Bonus tip: place a warmed rice bag on your pajamas before bedtime so you have warm jammies to get into! What a treat. And, this is a great way to use up fabric scraps.

12) Makeshift Ice Scraper

If you are in a pinch and you’ve lost or broken your windshield scraper then you can use a blank CD, a credit card, or a non-metal spatula from the kitchen to help you out.

11) Protective Covering

Cover your windshield at night with a old bath mat, carpet scrap, or small rug: it keeps the snow and ice off and can store in your trunk after. Bonus tip: the rug can help get you unstuck if used for traction under your back wheels.

10) Use a Broom

Light snow is easier to remove with a broom than a shovel.
