10 Dollar Store Ideas That Make Going Back To School Easier

We can use all the help we can get when it comes to keeping the kiddos organized!

Summer is over and the school year has officially begun. For so many of us, this is just the start of the busy season! We don’t know about you, but we sure can use all the help we can get when it comes to keeping the kiddos organized. It seems if we don’t start off on a good foot, we’re doomed from the beginning! Never fear. We have an awesome list of organizational ideas that will help keep you and the kids in line during this busy season. The best part? You can get everything you need from the dollar store! We love ideas like this – easy, cheap, and super practical.

Outfit Organizer

Let’s be honest – we could all use this little life hack! For some reason, choosing the right outfit in the morning takes up so much time! And we don’t know about you, but we can use all the spare minutes we can get when it comes to making it out of the door in the morning. Eliminate the fuss by planning outfits ahead of time and labeling them in the closet. That way, there are no fights, no delays, and no tears when it comes to dressing for the day!

DIY Lunch Box Ice Packs

Ice packs always seem to be in high demand around our house – and they always seem to get lost, presumably in the same place where all of the socks and hair ties go. Instead of spending a ton of money on new ice packs every few weeks, grab some dollar store spondes and get them nice and wet. Put the sponges in a ziplock bag and set them in the freezer. These work great in lunch boxes, plus, they are easy and cheap to replace when they inevitably get lost.

Chore Chart

We’re completely lost without our to-do list. Instead of making a new list every day or every week, this is an easy way to keep track of all of the daily and weekly tasks, all school year long! Simply type up and print out the list of chores, homework time, even extracurricular activities, and put it in a glass frame. Hot glue a little pom-pom on the end of a dry erase marker, and you’ll have yourself a reusable chart to keep everyone in line, including yourself!

Distraction-Free Homework Station

It seems there are a million different distractions today – TV, video games, social media sites, food, pets, siblings, and on and on the list goes. One great and simple way to keep your student focused is to create a little homework station. Now, you might not have the extra space in your house for an office for each of your kids, but don’t worry! By simply setting up a tri-fold poster board, you are eliminating more distractions than you think. You can even glue on some helpful tips or tricks for subjects your kid struggles with, or maybe print out a calming picture to help soothe any homework anxiety. The sky is the limit! You’ll be surprised at how well this actually works.

Easy Desk Organizer

When the school year gets going, we seem to find ourselves drowning in school supplies. Markers, crayons, pens, pencils, glue, scissors, even glitter on occasion! One inexpensive way to keep everything organized is to pick up a wire rack, some metal cups, and a few clips from the dollar store. Secure the cups on the wire rack and then hang it up to keep all of those school supplies organized! You can even keep some of the essential by the front door in case your child needs to grab a pen or calculator for the day.
