A leader in the global war against poverty and gender violence
Since 2013, Markle has dedicated the majority of her time and resources working to confront poverty and gender inequity issues on a global scale. Markle has served as a counsellor for international charity One Young World since 2013. She delivered a Keynote speech on the problems of Gender Violence and Modern-day Slavery at the 2014 One World Summit in Dublin. In 2016, Markle was named a global ambassador for World Vision Canada, a role in which she led an African Clean Water Campaign based in Rwanda. She currently serves as an Advocate for the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. When not dedicating herself to charitable causes, Markle has also found the time to both launch a media platform (serving as the publisher of The Tig, a female-centric lifestyle magazine that closed earlier this year. Markle, a self-described “geek”, is also a highly-proficient coder and an early investor of Apache HTTP Server.
