3) Vaseline to Shine Leather

This one is long forgotten for most people, but this once-common trick for getting is superb for getting a shine on leather, especially patent that has seen some better days. Less smell than shoe polish is a great bonus!

This is one we find really intriguing because it is just so simple! It makes so much sense because walnuts have a lot of natural oils. Watch this video to see how well it works!

1) Lighter Fluid For Fabric Stains

A little bottle of cleaning fluid was once standard in every home laundry area to clean a small spot with solvents and avoid having to launder the whole garment. This method is particularly good for grease-based stains. We’ve heard that blotting with lighter fluid is an excellent stand-in for using cleaning fluid. This is another one that will have to be spot-tested on every garment since it has been known to drain color from clothing. The modern-day advice is launder like regular afterwards.

It’s so interesting to find out what people a century or more before you were using might have used to accomplish their daily chores. The use of food as cleaners is pervasive idea from days long gone. They knew the safety level of these foods and it only takes a few spills to figure out how they react on wood or fabric.
