6 Ways To Fake Pottery Barn Looks

I could get lost in home decor stores like Pottery Barn, Pier 1, and Crate & Barrel. As I wander through the aisles, I make a mental list of all the things I want, and then quickly realize my budget allows for maybe one item, if that. These high-end looks are so expensive! Luckily, there are a few creative ways to get the same looks for a fraction of the price you’ll find in any of these retailers. Let’s take a look at these high-end hacks!

Mirror

This super cute idea is so easy to recreate on your own! Simply grab a stack of square mirrors (you can find some for super cheap at the dollar store or Walmart), and then get a piece of plywood cut down to size. Attach the mirrors using sturdy wood glue, and then staple some hanging wire onto the back of the wood. That’s it! Doesn’t this make for a fun statement piece on the wall? Plus, mirrors are a great way to give the illusion of a bigger room!

Faux Apothecary

Now here is a gorgeous piece of furniture that looks like it cost an arm and a leg, right? Actually for the price of an IKEA unfinished dresser (or an old dresser you found at the thrift store), some wood stain, and cute handles, you can get this amazing look! Take the drawers and measure out two lines on each one, effectively dividing the draw in thirds. Then, cut a shallow line along your marked areas. Stain the entire thing, and add on your chosen handles. Beautiful!

Candlesticks

I’ve seen candlesticks like these go for $30, even $50 a pop! While I love this farmhouse chic look, I can’t justify spending $100 on candlesticks alone! However, I can totally get on board with terra cotta pots and wooden furniture legs. Simply attache the terra cotta pot plates on the top and bottom of each furniture leg, and paint everything. It really doesn’t get much easier than this!

Terrarium

I didn’t know I needed a terrarium until I saw this DIY. Now I can’t imagine not having one in my home! Grab some cheap frames from the dollar store and get to glueing. Use industrial-strength glue and secure with painter’s tape so everything holds its shape while drying. Once the glue is dry, peel the tape off and stick your favorite potted plants inside! I just love this look, and I can’t wait to try it out for myself!
