Softwood, hardwood, dimensional lumber… what’s the difference? Did you know that balsa wood is technically considered a hardwood? Who knew?! In this video, we’ll discuss what is considered hardwood and softwood, and go over a few pros and cons of different kinds of wood. For example, pine may be cost effective for your project, and easy to sand and cut through, but since it’s a soft wood, it’ll dent and scratch easily. Maple, mahogany, and walnut are just a few of the hundreds of varieties of hardwood and exotics available to work with. These expensive woods can be difficult to work with but rest assured that the pieces you make with these woods will last for generations!
