Back in 2011, Maurice Sendak did an interview with NPR’s Terry Gross on “Fresh Air”. Artist Christopher Niemann was so touched by it he put the interview to pictures. It is so beautiful!

Niemann’s pictures bring back the memories of some of Mr. Sendak’s most wonderful stories and characters. Mr. Sendak describes how he is dealing with getting near the end of his life (he died 6-7 months after this interview), the friends he misses when they die, and his thoughts on a life well-lived. We should all be so lucky to be so content with our lives.

“Live your life. Live your life. Live your life.”

Magical.

Prepare for the chills that are sure to ensue with this amazing interview. “It is a blessing to get old, it is a blessing to find the time to do the things; to read the books; to listen to the music…”

Enjoy.
