4 Secrets To Writing Every Day

Build your daily writing habit and reach your writing goals faster!

If you’re like the many hundreds of thousands of writers out there, chances are you’d like to live off of your writing full time. Most of us don’t have the luxury of working on our novels full time, but we do have bills and responsibilities piling up. So, we have a day job while we wait till the dream job kicks in. Add in a significant other, pets, kids, other commitments, and who has time to write at all, let alone every single day.

Don’t lose sight of your dream! There are plenty of people making it happen right now while holding down a full-time job and taking care of a family. If you want it bad enough, you’ll make it happen too. Luckily we have a few tips to make things easier.

The first tip is to find a time of day that works for you. The key here isn’t just whether you’re a morning person or a night owl, but to find a time that you’re at your best creatively. I know writers who wake up at 5:30 in the morning and put in a good hour and half of writing before heading out to their day job. I know other writers who stay up late at night clicking away at the keyboard long after the family has gone to bed.

The key is to be aware of your productivity. Switch it up every now and then and see if you’re able to focus more when you’re in a public place like a coffee shop, or whether you get more done at home, alone. Maybe you know you’ll never truly have the house to yourself, so you have to find other places to write. Make it happen!
