The most important thing is to not fertilize your potted plants during the winter. While they are not getting a lot of sun and warmth, you want them to go into a bit of a dormant phase. So make sure to give them enough water to stay alive, but not as much as you normally would. The finger test really is the best method – if the soil is dry to the touch, go ahead and sprinkle the plant with a little water.
