Angela Walters from The Midnight Quilting Show is here with another hilarious and informative tutorial! Today, she shows us how to make this scrappy quilt using charm packs and two very familiar quilt blocks – the nine patch and the star!

Are you like Angela, and you just love to fondle those new fabrics? She talks about her obsession with that soft fabric just full of potential – and really, who can blame her? I think we all have that same feeling. There’s just something so satisfying about seeing all those colors and feeling the softness of a new charm pack!

Angela also shows us a really neat way to get more comfortable with free motion quilting – by using a stencil! Have you ever tried this method before? Basically, you get your stencil and position it on the quilt. Then, you press chalk into it so it creates an outline that will easily wash out. All that’s left is to quilt on the lines! This is a great way to learn how to free motion, kind of like training wheels.

This is a great quilt for beginners, as these blocks are staples in many quilting projects, and they aren’t too complicated, especially using the charm packs. Go ahead and see how it all comes together in the video below!
