No matter your process, there are some helpful tips here!
The writing process is completely unique unto the writer. There are, however, advantages in learning how others get inspired, stay on task, edit, flesh out details, etc. We are all a community here, and we seek to spur each other on and encourage each other every step of the way. As writers, we tend to draw into ourselves and isolate from the outside world – but it turns out the outside world is where most of our inspiration comes from!
Maybe you’re struggling to find inspiration today, or you just can’t focus on the task at hand. Take a few minutes to see how the talented Shaelin crafts her short stories. Spoiler alert: there is a lot less planning for short stories versus novels. If you’re knee deep in a novel and can’t see how to move forward – why not switch to short stories for a bit? It’s a much more fast paced, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of writing. Or, at least it is for Shaelin. This might be just the break your brain needs in order to jump back into your novel with new ideas and a new tool set.
Go ahead and see how Shaelin gets her stories started in the video below and get inspired to start the process for yourself!
