If you’re anything like us, you love DIY projects that are fun, easy, and cost-effective! Today’s DIY checks all three of those boxes, and then some. For this project, you’ll need a pack of decorative napkins from your local dollar store, a wooden crate from the craft store – Michael’s or Hobby Lobby have plenty of options to choose from, and some Mod Podge. Gather your supplies and let’s get started!

The first step is to spread out your napkins and separate the two layers. This is optional, but you’ll find it easier to spread the Mod Podge over the napkins if you just have the one layer. Plus, it makes a cool effect when you paint the Mod Podge over the white, making it see through!

Next, sand down the crate to make sure it’s all smooth and even. After the crate has been sanded, it’s time to add a layer of Mod Podge!

Work in sections, adding Mod Podge, then smoothing a napkin over the area, then adding another layer of Mod Podge over the top. Continue until the entire crate is covered with napkins!

Once everything is dry, you can use a hobby knife and some sandpaper to cut the napkin from the slats in between the wood pieces of the crate. Sand down the edges to make everything nice and smooth.

Check out all of the cool ways you can use these cute, decorative crates around the house!
