Short On Cash This Father’s Day? Make These Awesome Mugs For CHEAP!

Chances are you already have everything for this fun and funky craft in your home – mugs, sharpies, an oven, and some contact paper.

The best Father’s Day gifts are the ones that come from the heart – not the wallet. Chances are you already have everything for this fun and funky craft in your home – mugs, sharpies, an oven, and some contact paper. Yup, that’s it! I love that this craft can be as simple or as intricate as you want. Little kids can go crazy with the colors, or older kids can still have fun writing dad a fun message. Dads and kids of all ages will love making and receiving these – I’m sending one to my dad this year! Follow along with the simple tutorial below for some fun ideas on how to decorate your mugs!

Supplies:

– Plain, white, ceramic mugs

– Sharpies

– Contact paper

– Scissors

– An oven

Directions:

Trace out desired shape on contact paper, cut it out, and place on the mug.

Outline the shape with large dots in the sharpie color of your choice.

Continue going around the outline, spiraling further out, with smaller dots, and each row a little more spaced out.

Let everything dry, and remove the contact paper.

Optional: Add a funny quote, “Happy Father’s Day,” or the date on the other side of the mug.

To “set” the ink, bake the mug in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes.

For an added layer of protection, paint a thin layer of dishwasher safe mod podge.
