Boston Public Library

The Boston Public Library houses 23 million volumes as the second-largest public library in the world. The architecture is also impressive, with high-arched ceilings that make for fantastic acoustics in the Bates Hall reading room. New York Public Library

The central building of the New York Public Library houses 53 million volumes as the largest public library on the planet. The Rose Main Reading Room takes up two city blocks.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is a grand structure meant to honor the original library built in the third century B.C. The newest grand library opened in 2002 as a monument to human knowledge in one of Africa’s most culturally rich cities.
