Has This Ever Happened To You? See How To Fix It!

See how to fix these common crochet mistakes!

One of the most frustrating things, when you’re just learning how to crochet, is getting the edges nice and straight. It’s something almost everyone struggles with, in the beginning, and sometimes we revert back to our old ways even after years of crocheting!

There’s no huge secret to fixing the problem, it really comes down to counting your stitches and making sure you have the correct stitches for each row. If you notice you’re making more of a triangle and less of a rectangle, you are dropping stitches along the way.

Another issue a lot of crocheters run into is having the foundation row turn out a lot smaller than the rest of the project. This results in lumpy blankets and misshapen projects. The key to this problem is tension. Sometimes we start off a pattern with a tight tension, and then as we get more comfortable with the pattern, we make our stitches a little looser. One way to combat this is to use a bigger hook for the foundation row, and then switch to a smaller hook when you feel your stitches loosening up.
