As knitters and crocheters, we are presented with a lot of options when walking down the yarn isles of the craft stores. Worsted weight, sock weight, wool, cotton, acrylic, variegated, and the list goes on and on. What are the differences between all the yarn types? How does one choose?

Lucky for you, we have a great video from one of our favorite crocheters, Jayda In Stitches. Jayda gives us her top five reasons for choosing acrylic yarn for her crochet projects. Keep reading to find out why!

The first reason may come as no surprise to anyone who has ever crocheted or knit an afghan – price. On the off chance that you don’t have wads of cash like the girls in this photo, then acrylic yarn is a great choice for you! When a pattern calls for 8 skeins of yarn to complete, that adds up real quick. Acrylic yarn typically runs anywhere from $3-$8 a skein, whereas wool can run anywhere from $12-$22+ a skein! That can mean a difference between a $40 project and a $130 project. Yikes!

Go ahead and see what other reasons Jayda has for choosing acrylic yarn in the video below!
