9 Simple Splatter and Drip Paint DIY Projects to Try Today!

From fun to elegant – these ideas will add pizazz to your life.

Splatter or Drip Napkins

Use watered down fabric dye in a limited color palette for a sophisticated and completely personal pattern to match your other table elements. This would also be a lovely way to make a nearly-stain-proof tablecloth.

Splatter Chargers

Use glass paint on the reverse (non-food) side of clear glass plates and then bake per paint instructions. Or, if you want a cheaper version you can use bamboo chargers and acrylic paint, but this option will give you less long-term use and will not be food safe.

Faux Enamel Wear

By doing only one color of splatter you can create a look that is closer to traditional enamelware. We love the project below that uses a dropper. For decorative ceramics you can use glass paint thinner to get the right consistency before baking to cure. Or you can use acrylic paint thinned with water followed by a clearcoat to protect the design.

Festive Balloons

For an elegant take on the classic party balloon, use watered down gold acrylic paint to splatter already-inflated balloons. Just make sure they don’t touch anything until they are dry!

Paint Splatter Ring Bowls

For these decorative ring dishes you can use dollar store or thrift store finds to make one-of-a-kind gifts! Again, watered down acrylic is fine for decorative use. Use a toothpick to to drop bigger blobs onto the surface or (wearing rubber gloves) flick a toothbrush dipped in the paint solution for smaller droplets.
