3 Party Cup Crafts

Plastic party cups can do way more than just hold our favorite beverages!

Faux Blown Glass Sculpture

This is a fun art activity for the kiddos: faux blown glass. The supplies are really simple and kids can get extra creative with colors and designs drawn on plastic cups. Adult supervision is required, though, for the baking portion of this craft. Once melted and slightly smooshed, the plastic cups are transformed into a visual delight, inspired by some of the world’s greatest blown glass artists and their work.

A little glue helps give the cup a little more visual interest; by stacking cups at wacky angles, the sculpture achieves another layer of dimension. This is a great rainy day (or snow day) activity, and can inspire all kinds of questions, from how heat melts plastic to a little art lesson on blown glass. Each cup will carry its own unique design and come together in a fun sculpture to display in a classroom or at home.
