What NOT To Plant Together

These herbs and veggies do not get along!

If you’ve been around the garden community for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard of companion planting. It’s exactly what it sounds like – certain veggies work better together, helping each other deter insects and encourage growth. However, some plants do not get along. Read on to find out which plants are on the outs with each other!

Beans & Bulbs

Anything in the bean family – string beans, bush beans, and even lima beans are not fans of bulb veggies. This includes garlic, leeks, onions, and chives. The good news is, these bulb veggies are great candidates to grow from your kitchen scraps right in your own home! Beans also aren’t fans of peppers, so make sure to plant them on the other side of the garden. Veggies that do well with beans include broccoli, carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes.
