This DIY Paper Lantern Garland Is The Perfect Decor For Your Memorial Day Grill Out!

Put a patriotic twist on this kid friendly craft with some festive paper and ribbons. This is so simple, and the results are super cute! Invite the kids from the neighborhood over and see who can make the longest garland, then hang them up in the backyard and around the house on Memorial Day. What a great opportunity to teach your kids about the origins of the holiday, and why it is important to honor and remember those brave men and women who fought for our country!

Supplies:

– Patriotic scrapbook paper or construction paper

– Tape or glue

– Ribbon

– Hole punch

– Scissors

– Twine / string

Directions:

Cut decorative paper down to the desired height of paper lantern (ours are 2.5 in x 5 in).

Fold paper in half, lengthwise.

Cut slits ½ in. apart.

Unfold (optional: punch holes in paper for added detail).

Roll into a tube, pressing down so that the slits flare out.

Tape or glue ends together.

Tape a ribbon handle on one end, string up with twine or ribbon, and enjoy!
