Built with the earnings from his most popular works, Clemens and Olivia had the house custom built to their unique specifications. Along with their home in Elmira, New York, the Hartford house served as one of the primary residences for the family of 5 for what Clemens would later call some of the happiest years of his life. Today the house is still standing and regular tours are given of this most beautiful home.
