3. Even Numbers

There’s just something about even numbers and design that don’t mix. When styling groups of anything – pictures, candles, nicknacks, etc., always group in odd numbers. Even numbers in design make for a complete picture, which causes the eye to gloss right over the details. Odd numbers, however, draw attention. When in doubt, arrange in groups of three and vary the heights!

4. Same Height

Speaking of heights, your groups of three (or other odd numbers) should all be different heights. This creates texture and depth in a room, drawing the eye to pause and look at the different details. We see this played out with candles on a mantlepiece or in photo arrangements.
