Isn’t this Through Forest Afghan absolutely beautiful? I just want to curl up with it by the fire and read a good book! The extra fluffy weight of this afghan comes from double stranding – that is, crocheting with two strands of yarn at the same time. This adds extra bulk, and helps the project to work up twice as quick!

Here in this video below, Mikey from The Crochet Crowd uses Caron Cakes – which is a line of yarn that is self-striping. This makes it really easy to get those gorgeous colors without always having to switch and weave in a bunch of ends.

With the Caron Cakes, you can choose to double up the yarn so that the colors match up, or, you can choose to mismatch the yarns. This look is called “marled yarn” and it’s actually quite beautiful! No matter what you choose, this blanket really turns out quite lovely either way.

This blanket is mainly composed of moss stitches, so it’s very beginner friendly. Of course, even an old pro will love this easy pattern. We all need a quick and easy project every now and then! go ahead and see how it’s done in the video below, and don’t forget to share your photos of your finished blanket with us in the comments below!
