This May Look Like An Ordinary (Albeit Beautiful) Book, But Just Wait!

When you look at it from the right point of view, something marvelous appears!

At first glance, this copy of “Stalky & Co,” by Rudyard Kipling might just look like any other normal, albeit very beautiful book. But when you look at it from the right point of view, something marvelous appears: a beautiful painting at the edge of the book pages! The process is called Fore-edge Painting, and the majority of examples date back to the late 19th, early 20th century. However, it is thought that the earliest of these paintings dates all the way back to the 10th century! See a beautiful example of this magnificent artwork in the following clip from Cornell University Library.

Have you ever seen this kind of fore-edge painting on books before? Let us know in the comments below and if not, be prepared to be amazed while watching this video. I wish all books had this!
