Up-cycle Your Old Books With These Great Ideas

Don’t just read books; use them as decor around your home.

Book Clutch

Turn your favorite book, or just one with a colorful cover design, into a one-of-a-kind clutch. The project requires only a bit of fabric, hot glue sticks, a zipper, some cardboard and the book. Books with a thick spine work best.

Drawers

With a little more work than just trimming out pages, you can turn book covers into drawers. Stack multiple book drawers on top of each other to make a large jewelry box.

Wreath Made of Book Pages

While book covers are often wonderful decorations on their own, the paper inside books is a useful material for creating crafts. One project is to make paper flowers and to weave them into a wreath. The text on the pages provides a unique visual texture that plays with shadows in the folds of the flowers.

Greeting Cards

Pages covered in text also make great silhouette additions to greeting cards when mounted on solid color card stock. Fold up extra pages to make the envelopes for a coordinated look.
