The Easiest Way To Clean Your Mattress

When is the last time you cleaned your mattress?

We clean our sheets, vacuum our floors, and even wash our pillows, but most of us aren’t cleaning our mattress. This is a huge mistake! A mattress should be cleaned twice a year, minimum. You clean your sheets because they get dirty from the oils in your skin, sweat, and natural elements present in your home. Your mattress also collects all of those things, so it makes sense that you’d want to clean it as well.

If the idea of cleaning your mattress is intimidating, don’t worry! We’ve got an easy tutorial for you today on the best method for cleaning your mattress. Once you get the process down, you just repeat it a few times until you have the results you’re looking for.

The first step is to strip the bed and wash the sheets. Then, vacuum the matress to get rid of any loose crumbs, dust, and other things. Next, grab some baking soda and scrub it into the mattress. You’ll want to make sure to really cover everything. Depending on the size of your mattress, you’ll need 1-2 boxes of baking soda for this step. Let the baking soda sit for at least 10 minutes so it can soak up oils and deodorize the mattress. After 10 minutes, vacuum up the baking soda.

Next, fill up a spray bottle with water and 1 tablespoon of clear dish soap. Spray down the mattress making sure to evenly cover the entire area. Then, fill a spray bottle with half water, half hydrogen peroxide and spray an even coat over the mattress. After a few more steps, you’ll have a clean mattress that looks like new!
