The first reason may come as no surprise to anyone who has ever crocheted or knit an afghan – price. On the off chance that you don’t have wads of cash like the girls in this photo, then acrylic yarn is a great choice for you! When a pattern calls for 8 skeins of yarn to complete, that adds up real quick. Acrylic yarn typically runs anywhere from $3-$8 a skein, whereas wool can run anywhere from $12-$22+ a skein! That can mean a difference between a $40 project and a $130 project. Yikes!
