Use As A General Fertilizer

Plants need three macronutrients for healthy growth; nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorous. Coffee grounds release a healthy boost of nitrogen as they decompose. Leafy greens like spinach and cabbage do well with extra shots of nitrogen, so consider using coffee grounds especially if you plan on growing these guys this year! Coffee grounds also contain a fair amount of potassium. All you need to do is add some crushed eggshells for the phosphorous, and you’ll have a complete, nutritional fertilizer! Another way to use coffee grounds as fertilizer is to use coffee grounds while sowing the seeds. Carrots, for example, tend to attract lots of bugs, pests, and diseases, but by mixing the seeds with the grounds, you’ll protect the seedlings and have healthy soil.
